VISITING SCC COVID-19 UPDATE 24.12.2020

Dear families, residents and friends

We are thrilled to welcome back visitors to Mater Christi. Having said that, do enjoy being with your loved ones again. We must each take responsibility for continuing to play our part in ongoing Covid-19 prevention.

If you have any symptoms – even slight – stay home, isolate, get tested. We are still at the mercy of this virus.

The updated advice until at least 11.59pm on Wednesday 30 December 2020 or upon further advice from the Department of Health is :

  • All visitors from the Northern Beaches LGA are not to visit the facility.

  • Any visitors from the greater Sydney area must provide proof of residence prior to being allowed entry to MC and will be allowed to visit for one hour only. Visitors from the greater Sydney area will be escorted to and from a residents room by a member of staff.

  • Families/friends who are unable to visit can organise to keep in contact with their loved ones either by phoning/organising skype contact with our lifestyle team.

  • All visitors and staff are required to wear a face mask. We ask that masks remain on for the entire duration of the visit and can be removed on exit at the mask disposal bin.

  • Planned outings for essential appointments are permitted, subject to prior notice and upon “risk assessment“ approved by the acting Director of Nursing.

  • Any pre-planned or pre booked Christmas outings already arranged will be reviewed and risk assessments carried out. Christmas lunch will go ahead.

  • Resident outing/shopping trips are suspended until further notice.

  • Children of all ages are now permitted to enter Mater Christi (closely supervised), subject to conditions of entry being met, including evidence of current flu vaccination and screening for recent illness or potential exposure to the virus and while still adhering to the restrictions on the number of visitors.

  • Each resident may have up to two visitors at one time, subject to conditions of entry being met, including evidence of current flu vaccination and screening for recent illness or any potential exposure to the virus.

  • all visitors must be screened at reception.

  • One point of entry, anyone who is entering the facility must present to reception for registration and screening;

  • Bookings are essential. Visiting hours are 7 days per week, between 10:00am and 4:30pm, excluding lunch break from 12:00pm – 1:00pm. Please call reception to make a booking on 02 66586133;

  • Authorised visits will be conducted in a resident’s room, outdoors, or in a specific area agreed by our staff, rather than communal areas where the risk of transmission to other residents is greater;

  • Note that visits on compassionate grounds, for end-of-life care, continue unchanged.

Any concerns/queries, please don’t hesitate to call and talk to us.
